Egypt condemns, in the strongest terms, the attack carried out by the Rapid Support Forces targeting the area of Mastariha in North Darfur State. The attack resulted in a number of civilian casualties and injuries, as well as the targeting and destruction of the area’s sole health facility and the assault on its medical staff.
Egypt emphasizes complete rejection of all forms of violence and violations against civilians and medical facilities, describing them as a flagrant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law , Egypt further stresses the necessity of respecting and protecting healthcare facilities and medical personnel at all times.
In this context, Egypt renews affirmation of the constants of its position regarding the crisis in Sudan, particularly the adherence to the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Sudanese state. Egypt rejects any attempts that would undermine Sudan’s national institutions or threaten its cohesion.
Furthermore, Egypt underscores the importance of reaching an urgent humanitarian truce as a precursor to a sustainable ceasefire, and prioritizing comprehensive political solutions that meet the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people.
Egypt also reaffirms the continuation of its efforts and communications at both the regional and international levels to support initiatives aimed at ending the conflict in Sudan, notably its efforts within the framework of the International Quartet, as well as to strengthen the humanitarian response and ensure safe and sustainable access for aid to affected areas, in order to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
