Egypt Warns of “Catastrophic Consequences” as Regional Military Escalation Intensifies

Minister of Foreign Affairs Discusses Developments of Military Escalation in the Region with his Saudi Counterpart

A phone call was conducted between Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
The call is within the framework of the close consultation and coordination between the two countries regarding the rapidly evolving regional developments and the ongoing military escalation witnessed in the region.
The two ministers exchanged views on the current developments.
Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s firm and strong support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and all sisterly Arab countries, highlighting Egypt’s full solidarity in confronting any challenges affecting the Kingdom’s security.
Dr. Abdelatty also renewed Egypt’s full condemnation of the attacks that targeted the security and sovereignty of sisterly and friendly states. He stressed that there is no justification for such attacks and underscored the necessity of fully respecting the principles of good neighborliness and state sovereignty.
The call also touched on efforts to evacuate Egyptian citizens, where Minister Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s deep appreciation for the support and facilitation provided by the authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to ensure the success of evacuation efforts under the current circumstances.
The two ministers further discussed ongoing efforts to contain the deteriorating situation.
In this regard, Minister Abdelatty warned of the serious and catastrophic repercussions of the continued cycle of violence and the widening scope of the conflict, which threatens regional and international peace and security and places the security of the entire region before grave challenges.
At the conclusion of the call, both sides agreed on the need to intensify regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions, prioritize political solutions, and resort to dialogue and diplomacy as the only means to prevent the region from sliding into broader confrontations and a state of widespread chaos.
