The Foreign Minister held a phone conversation with Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Republic of Iraq, to follow up on the accelerating developments and the dangerous military escalation currently unfolding in the region.
During the call, Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of coordinated regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions and contain the current situation, warning of the potentially catastrophic consequences of an expansion of the conflict. The Foreign Minister condemned attacks targeting Iraqi territory as well as several sister Arab countries in the Gulf region, in addition to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, reaffirming Egypt’s complete rejection of any actions that violate the sovereignty, unity, or territorial integrity of Arab states.
