“Kuwait fund” Celebrates Its Employees and Reaffirms Its Commitment to Sustainable Development

Under the distinguished presence of Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development held its annual celebration today at its headquarters.

The ceremony was dedicated to honoring a distinguished cohort of current employees whose tenure has exceeded twenty years, alongside retired staff in recognition of their enduring contributions, and a group of exceptional participants from the Training and Qualification Program for Newly Graduated Kuwaiti Engineers and Architects.

In his speech during the celebration, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized that the Fund embodies Kuwait’s humanitarian approach and strategic commitment to supporting brotherly and friendly countries and communities.

This approach stems from the vision of the late Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who believed that investing in people is a fundamental pillar in building a more prosperous and just future.

His Excellency noted that the establishment of the Fund in 1961, only a few months after Kuwait’s independence, reflected the country’s early commitment to promoting international solidarity and cooperation, and to building bridges of friendship with nations around the world.

He stressed that the Fund has since become one of the most prominent instruments of Kuwait’s foreign policy and a key pillar of the country’s development diplomacy.

He further explained that the Kuwait Fund for Development has implemented development projects in 106 countries worldwide, covering vital sectors and contributing to improving the quality of life for millions. This reflects the Fund’s standing as a trusted partner in advancing sustainable development at the international level.

He added that the Fund’s continued achievements are made possible by the wise guidance of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, as well as by the dedication of Kuwait Fund staff, whose commitment over the years has been central to the institution’s achievements and to carrying forward its development mission.

His Excellency concluded by reaffirming Kuwait’s continued commitment to its developmental and humanitarian role and to strengthening its international partnerships in a manner that supports global stability and prosperity.

For his part, the Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Development, Mr. Waleed Shamlan Al-Bahar, said in his address that over more than six decades, the Fund has firmly established itself as a leading model in development and humanitarian work, contributing to the financing of more than 1,000 development and humanitarian projects worldwide.

Al-Bahar added that the Fund’s projects have embodied Kuwait’s humanitarian message, based on the principle of “Partners in Development,” while reinforcing its role as one of the main tools of Kuwait’s foreign policy in strengthening relations with brotherly and friendly countries.

He noted that the annual celebration represents a renewed opportunity to strengthen bonds among members of the Kuwait Fund family and to reaffirm the collective commitment to continue working with a spirit of responsibility and excellence.

It also serves as a tribute to those who came before and whose tangible contributions helped achieve the Fund’s objectives and enhance its developmental role locally and internationally, while encouraging future generations to continue the path of development and giving.
