“Tehran talks to Washington and  declares  European armies “terrorist groups”

President Donald Trump said Iran is currently negotiating with the United States, despite heightened military tensions and strong warnings from Tehran’s top military leadership against any potential US strikes.

Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that communication channels with Iran remain open. “(Iran is) talking to us, and we’ll see if we can do something, otherwise we’ll see what happens,” he said, adding, “We have a big fleet heading out there.” Trump reiterated his position by stressing, “They are negotiating.”

At the same time, Trump revealed that US allies in the region are not being fully briefed on possible military plans involving Iran, citing security concerns. “Well, we can’t tell them the plan. If I told them the plan, it would be almost as bad as telling you the plan — it could be worse, actually,” he said.

The US president has previously threatened to intervene militarily in Iran following a deadly crackdown on anti-government protests, further fueling regional tensions. In line with Washington’s heightened military posture, the United States has deployed a naval strike group led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln to waters near Iran.

Meanwhile, tensions between Iran and Europe have also escalated. Iran’s parliament speaker announced on Sunday that European countries’ armies are now considered “terrorist groups” under Iranian law. The move comes in direct response to the European Union’s decision to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, appearing in a Revolutionary Guards uniform as a gesture of solidarity, cited provisions of Iranian law to justify the decision. He said that under “Article of the Law on Countermeasures Against the Declaration of the IRGC as a Terrorist Organization, the armies of European countries are considered terrorist groups.”

Despite the strong rhetoric, it remains unclear what immediate or practical impact Iran’s declaration against European militaries will have on the ground, as diplomatic and military tensions continue to rise across the region.
