U.S. Congress Honors Secretary-General of the Muslim World League for Efforts to Combat Hate and Promote Coexistence

In a move reflecting growing recognition within the U.S. political establishment of international initiatives aimed at rejecting hatred and fostering human understanding, members of both the Republican and Democratic parties in the U.S. Congress honored His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, during an official ceremony held at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.

The honor comes in recognition of the leading role played by the Muslim World League in confronting hate speech and racism, and in promoting the values of peaceful coexistence among followers of different religions and ethnicities. These efforts have contributed to strengthening social stability and safeguarding human diversity from division and conflict at both the local and international levels.

A number of members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate signed the certificate of recognition, commending the League’s efforts to reinforce social cohesion and reduce tensions rooted in religious or racial differences. Particular praise was given to the MWL’s international initiatives focused on combating discriminatory practices and attitudes that threaten the security and dignity of people of different faiths and backgrounds around the world.

Leaders of the Muslim community in the United States, who attended the ceremony, described the honor as a recognition for the entire Muslim community across the country. They emphasized that the event represents an unprecedented milestone, marking the first time such an honor has been bestowed upon an Islamic figure inside the U.S. Capitol, reflecting a growing official appreciation for the positive role played by moderate Islamic institutions.

In his remarks on the occasion, Dr. Al-Issa stated that the efforts being recognized embody core Islamic values that call for global peace and harmonious societies. He affirmed that the Muslim World League will continue its dedicated work to promote constructive and effective dialogue among all communities in order to strengthen a culture of understanding, awareness, and cooperation.

Dr. Al-Issa stressed the importance of recognizing the divine wisdom behind the inevitable diversity of humanity, calling for differences to be understood and addressed with awareness, civility, and rational engagement, rather than through confrontation or conflict, which only undermines social stability.

The ceremony also featured remarks by several members of the U.S. Congress, who outlined the rationale behind the recognition and highlighted the sustained efforts of the Muslim World League in combating hatred, promoting mutual respect, and building bridges of dialogue among peoples and religions at a time when the world is facing mounting challenges to coexistence and social harmony.
