“ Village of darkness “ Steals the Spotlight.. Souad Salebi Illuminates Cairo’s Sky with Young Adult Fantasy

Lebanese novelist Souad Salebi, long distinguished by her creative works, made a notable appearance at the Cairo International Book Fair by signing her new novel “Dark Village”.

This marks her first work targeted at young adults and the sixth in her literary repertoire.

The signing ceremony, hosted at the Emirates Platform for Publishing and Distribution pavilion, witnessed widespread interaction from enthusiastic young adults and their families, happy with this genre of literature.

This serves as renewed confirmation of the Cairo International Book Fair’s status as one of the most prominent and influential cultural forums in the Arab world for fostering readership.

Among the attendees were prominent Bahraini media figure Brouwen Habib, former Deputy Minister of Information and writer-journalist Charles Fouad El-Masry, Lebanese writer residing in the UAE Hoda Harqous, and writer-journalist and political analyst Ibrahim Taha.

In a related context, the author showed great interest in children with special needs. In a tender gesture, she dedicated a signed copy of her book to one of them as an expression of her support and appreciation.

The novel presents a fantasy narrative experience that transcends time and place. It is a work of lofty myths with a humanistic and emotional horizon, similar in spirit to international young adult literature, carving a distinct path within the Arab novelistic scene.

This participation comes after “Dark Village” reached the longlist for the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, an achievement reflecting the novel’s critical and reader appeal, as the award results are awaited in the coming period.
