Foreign Minister Discusses Regional De-escalation and Diplomatic Priorities with Saudi Counterpart

Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, met with Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the sidelines of their participation in the quadrilateral ministerial meeting held in Islamabad on Sunday, March 29.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, as well as the latest regional developments and ongoing efforts to reduce escalation and achieve calm in the region.
The two ministers reviewed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia across various fields.
They expressed deep appreciation for the distinguished level reached in the fraternal and strategic relations between the two countries.
They affirmed mutual commitment to further boosting bilateral cooperation in a way that fulfills the aspirations and interests of both brotherly peoples.
The meeting also tackled ongoing efforts to support a direct negotiation track between the United States and Iran.
The two ministers emphasized the importance of prioritizing diplomatic solutions to avoid the region sliding into comprehensive chaos.
During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with and support for Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states.
He further expressed Egypt’s condemnation of the unacceptable attacks targeting the security, stability, and resources of these countries.
Dr. Abdelatty stressed a categorical rejection of any attempts to undermine Arab national security or infringe upon the sovereignty of the Gulf states.
Regarding the Palestinian cause, both sides reiterated the need to implement the requirements of the second phase of US President Trump’s plan, as well as the immediate halt of Israeli violations in the West Bank, in a manner that ensures the establishment of an independent Palestine along the lines of June 4, 1967, and the fulfillment of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people as a fundamental pillar for sustainable stability in the region.
The two ministers also addressed the serious developments in Lebanon amidst continued Israeli escalation.
They asserted the utmost importance of supporting Lebanon’s national institutions and enabling them to maintain Lebanon’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity
