Foreign Minister Holds Meeting with African Union’s Egyptian Staff

Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, held on Wednesday, September 9, a virtual meeting with Egyptian staff members working at the African Union Commission and its various institutions and entities.
The meeting was part of the Ministry’s keenness on maintaining communication with Egyptian cadres working in regional and international organizations and listening to their proposals on means to bolster Egypt’s presence within African Union institutions.
Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed that Africa constitutes a top priority for Egypt’s foreign policy and diplomatic action. He commended the Egyptian competent personnel working within the African Union for their outstanding expertise and potential, as well as their substantive and effective contributions to supporting the implementation of the Union’s goals and principles, and boosting the efficiency of continental institutional action.
The Foreign Minister further pointed out that the presence of Egyptian cadres across the Union’s institutions represents a valuable asset for both Egypt and joint African action. He also highlighted the importance of working towards increasing Egyptian representation within the Union’s bodies and institutions by supporting and qualifying national talents, and encouraging them to apply for available positions.
In this context, the Foreign Minister listened to the views and proposals of the Egyptian cadres regarding ways to promote Egypt’s presence within African Union institutions and entities. Moreover, he underscored the importance of maintaining ongoing communication and periodic coordination with them, and of leveraging their practical experience and insights to support Egypt’s engagement within the Union and increase the effectiveness of Egyptian involvement in the joint African action architecture.
The Foreign Minister also reviewed ongoing preparations for Egypt’s hosting of El Alamein-Africa Business Forum, scheduled to take place in El-Alamein City, during October 2-4, 2026, on the sidelines of the African Union’s 8th Mid-Year Coordination Summit, as per the decision of the last AU Summit held in February 2026.
