Egyptian Premier League Title Race Intensifies After Sixth Round of Championship Phase

Zamalek Close in on Egyptian Premier League Title as Three-Way Race with Al Ahly and Pyramids Heats Up

The battle for the Egyptian Premier League title has intensified significantly among the three giants—Zamalek SC, Pyramids FC, and Al Ahly SC—following the conclusion of Matchday 6 in the championship phase.

Zamalek secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Smouha SC, while Al Ahly cruised to a 3-0 win against ENPPI Club. Meanwhile, Pyramids FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Ceramica Cleopatra FC, setting up a dramatic finale to the title race.

Zamalek One Step Away from the Title

Zamalek maintained their position at the top of the league standings, moving closer to securing their 15th Egyptian Premier League title—and their first since the 2021–2022 season.

The White Knights now need only a draw in their final match against Ceramica Cleopatra to clinch the title, regardless of the outcomes of Al Ahly’s clash with Al Masry or Pyramids FC’s encounter with Smouha.

Zamalek’s tally rose to 53 points, keeping them firmly in first place, while Smouha remain at the bottom of the championship group standings with 31 points.

Late Strike Secures Vital Win for Zamalek

Zamalek claimed a hard-fought victory thanks to a decisive goal by forward Odai Dabbagh, who scored with a powerful header from inside the penalty area into the top-right corner, following a precise assist from Juan Bezera.

The goal came in the second half after a goalless first half that was heavily disrupted by injuries. Several Smouha players—including Khaled El Ghandour, Hossam Ashraf, Samir Fekry, and Ahmed Mehoub—required medical attention, leading to multiple stoppages.

The opening minutes of the match were marked by caution from both sides, before Smouha striker Samuel Amadi threatened Zamalek’s goal with a shot from inside the box that narrowly missed the target.

Al Ahly Keep Pressure On with Dominant Victory

In another key fixture, Al Ahly continued their pursuit of the title with an emphatic 3-0 win over ENPPI at Cairo International Stadium.

Hussein El Shahat opened the scoring early in the 7th minute, before Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the first half. Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki sealed the victory with a third goal in the second half.

The win lifted Al Ahly to 50 points, placing them third in the standings and keeping them firmly in contention ahead of the final round.

Pyramids FC dropped valuable points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Ceramica Cleopatra in a match filled with drama and disallowed goals.

Fiston Mayele found the net for Pyramids in the 21st minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Ceramica took the lead in the 30th minute through Mohamed Reda “Bobo,” who finished a low cross from Ayman Saad Moka with a precise shot into the bottom-left corner.

Pyramids responded quickly, equalizing in the 36th minute through Nasser Maher with a powerful strike from inside the penalty area. Another goal by Ahmed Samy in first-half stoppage time was also disallowed for offside.

The second half saw no change in the scoreline, as both sides settled for a draw. Pyramids now sit second with 51 points.
