President El-Sisi, Oman’s Sultan discuss US-Iran crisis during Muscat talks

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi held talks over the US-Iranian crisis in the region on Thursday with Haitham bin Tariq at Al Baraka Palace during his brief visit to Oman following United Arab Emirates.
According to the Omani official News agency, the Omani Sultan personally welcomed the Egyptian president upon his arrival at the Royal Airport in Muscat earlier in the day.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed several regional developments and their political, economic, and security repercussions, according to Omani media reports.
They also exchanged views on ways to reach a final agreement regarding the ongoing US-Iran crisis through dialogue, mutual understanding, and diplomatic channels, amid broader regional efforts aimed at containing tensions and preserving stability in the Middle East.
Oman and Egypt have been playing the mediator role between the US and Iran in the region to diffuse the crisis in the past few weeks
On Wednesday, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for Oman and called for intensified regional de-escalation efforts during a phone call with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, amid mounting tensions across the Middle East, the Egyptian presidency said.
Earlier Thursday, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi visited Abu Dhabi where he met UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the brief visit, El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its complete rejection of recent Iranian attacks on Emirati sovereignty, describing the attacks as a “flagrant violation” of international law and the UN Charter, according to the Egyptian presidency.
