Egypt, Slovakia Discuss Regional Escalation and De-escalation Efforts

A phone call took place on Monday, March 2, between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, and Mr. Juraj Blanár, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, to discuss the latest developments related to the serious military escalation currently unfolding in the region.

Egypt Reaffirms Commitment to De-escalation and Political Solutions

During the call, Dr. Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s comprehensive assessment of the ongoing regional developments, reiterating Egypt’s firm and consistent position advocating de-escalation and prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions. He stressed that these efforts are essential to prevent the widening of the conflict and to avoid the region entering a dangerous cycle of violence and confrontation that could become increasingly difficult to contain.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister underscored that resorting to military options would only lead to further violence and bloodshed, emphasizing the importance of respecting the sovereignty of states and adhering to the principle of good neighborliness. He also highlighted the necessity of exercising maximum restraint during this critical phase to safeguard regional stability.

Calls for Intensified Regional and International Efforts

Dr. Abdelatty further emphasized the urgent need to intensify both regional and international efforts aimed at containing the crisis and preventing further deterioration of the security situation. He noted that coordinated diplomatic engagement remains the most effective path toward reducing tensions and preserving peace and stability.

Slovakia Praises Egypt’s Role in Supporting Stability

At the conclusion of the call, Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár expressed his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s continuous and unwavering efforts to reduce escalation and support security and stability across the region. He also conveyed Slovakia’s gratitude for the assistance provided by Egypt in facilitating the evacuation of Slovak citizens who had been stranded amid the regional tensions.

Continued Egyptian-Slovak Coordination

Both ministers agreed to maintain ongoing coordination and consultation in the coming period and to work jointly in support of de-escalation initiatives. The agreement reflects the depth of Egyptian-Slovak relations and their shared commitment to strengthening regional stability and promoting peaceful solutions to ongoing crises.
