El-Sisi reiterates Egypt’s rejection of any infringement on Kuwait’s sovereignty in Cairo talks

Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has reiterated his country’s “categorical rejection” of any infringement on Kuwait’s sovereignty during talks with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Cairo on Sunday, according to Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy.

El-Sisi said Egypt fully supports Kuwait’s security and stability, adding that the security of Gulf Arab states is “an integral part” of Egypt’s national security, the statement said. The president asked the Kuwaiti minister to convey his greetings to Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and praised the deep-rooted historical ties and strong fraternal relations between the two countries, El-Shennawy added.

The Kuwaiti minister conveyed greetings from Emir Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and expressed appreciation for Egypt’s backing, while both sides signalled interest in expanding cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, noting the “notable progress” in Egyptian–Kuwaiti ties in recent years.

The meeting was attended by Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty Kuwait’s Ambassador to Egypt Ghanem Saqr Al-Ghanem, and Assistant Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Obaidi, the presidency said. The talks come as Egypt continues to position itself as a regional mediator, calling for de-escalation in the US-Israeli war on Iran while maintaining support for Gulf allies.

Cairo has repeatedly condemned attacks on Gulf infrastructure and called for negotiations that respect the sovereignty and security concerns of Gulf states. The Kuwaiti foreign minister commended Egypt’s longstanding support for Kuwait’s sovereignty and stability, as well as its consistent backing of Gulf security, and voiced his country’s keenness to intensify coordination with Cairo to preserve regional peace and safeguard Arab security.

Egypt and Kuwait maintain longstanding political and economic ties, with Kuwait among the largest Arab investors in Egypt. In recent years, both countries have sought to deepen cooperation as Gulf states expand investments across the region.
