Egyptian Foreign Minister Reopens the Historic Premises of Egypt’s Embassy in Libya

Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, reopened the historic premises of Egypt’s Embassy in Tripoli, in the presence of Mr. El-Taher El-Baour, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Libya.
Ambassador Nader Zaki, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that during the ceremony, Minister Abdelatty highlighted the historical and diplomatic significance of reopening the historic Egyptian Embassy headquarters in Tripoli.
He noted that its sustained use as the seat of Egypt’s Embassy encapsulates the continuity of its legacy, blending the authenticity of the place with the demands of the present day and the aspirations for the future, and heralding the resumption of its role as a bridge for ongoing cooperation and coordination between the two brotherly countries.
Minister Abdelatty added that this historic building is an integral part of the memory of Tripoli, a city defined by its historical sophistication and cultural stature. The building stands as a witness to the city’s political and diplomatic history, and its historical value resonates with the deep-rooted human and cultural ties that characterize Egypt-Libya relations.
In this context, he explained that historic buildings do not merely preserve the features of the past; they also evoke the events they embraced and the meetings they hosted, while offering successive generations a chance to learn about key milestones in their nation’s history and its relations with the wider world.
The Foreign Minister also expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the support provided by the Libyan state and its agencies in completing the maintenance and renovation work of the building. He asserted that the relationship between Egypt and Libya is a longstanding, fraternal one, deeply rooted in their ties of direct neighborliness, social and cultural synergies, bonds of fraternity and kinship, and shared interests.
