Egypt Condemns Escalating Drone Attacks in Sudan and Emphasizes the Necessity of Protecting Civilians

Egypt condemns the escalating drone attacks against civilian and vital facilities in Sudan, which have resulted in civilian casualties and the targeting of infrastructure, which constitute a flagrant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law.

Egypt expresses its categorical rejection of all forms of violence directed at innocent people, and stresses the necessity of adhering to the protection of civilians and avoiding their exposure to the dangers of military operations.

Egypt reaffirms its unequivocal stance calling for halting the flow of arms via Sudan’s neighboring countries to the Rapid Support Forces militia. Egypt reiterates its full support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Sudan, as well as the preservation of its national institutions.

Egypt further underscores the importance for neighboring states to respect Sudan’s sovereignty and security, and to refrain from interfering in its internal affairs.

Furthermore, Egypt calls for intensified regional and international efforts to achieve a ceasefire, ensure humanitarian aid access, and create the conditions conducive to reaching a comprehensive political settlement that would put an end to the suffering of the brotherly Sudanese people and fulfill their aspirations for security and stability.
