A successful visit by Arab Contractors to Guinea

Eng. Ahmed El Assar – Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company visited Guinea heading a delegation included Eng. Heba Abu El Ella – Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors, and Eng. Hassan Hassoun – Member of the Policy Committee and supervisor of projects in the Francophone, West and Central Africa region of the company.

The visit included a meeting between Mr. Amadou Oury Bah – Prime Minister of the Republic of Guinea, and the company’s delegation, coordinated and attended by Ambassador Mohamed El Halawany – Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Guinea and Guinea-Bissau, and a number of the Guinean officials.

The meeting explored the Arab Contractors Company’s area of expertise, its most prominent projects and achievements in the African continent, in addition to discussing prospects for cooperation with the Republic of Guinea, which is currently witnessing a broad stage of transformation and modernization of infrastructure to achieve comprehensive economic development and enhance investments in various sectors.

The Guinean Prime Minister emphasized the deep historical ties between Egypt and Guinea, stressing the importance of benefiting from Egyptian expertise in implementing development projects, especially in the areas of roads, transportation projects, energy, and infrastructure. He also directed the relevant ministers to identify priority projects that can be studied in cooperation with the Arab Contractors Company, calling for continued technical coordination with the company to turn cooperation opportunities into projects on the ground.

Eng. Ahmed El Assar expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Guinea for the appreciation shown during this visit, which reflects the depth of bilateral relations between Egypt and Guinea. He emphasized the company’s keeness to strengthen the partnership and cooperation with the Republic of Guinea, and to put the expertise and capabilities of the Arab Contractors Company at the service of the ambitious development plans that the country is witnessing.

During the visit, Ms. Fatima Camara – Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy welcomed the company’s delegation. The meeting discussed cooperation opportunities, partnership mechanisms, and infrastructure development plans for the fisheries sector, which would contribute to maximizing the benefit from marine resources, supporting the economy, and achieving sustainable development.

The company’s delegation also met with Mr. Facinet Sylla – Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works, where the meeting addressed ways to enhance joint cooperation and explored opportunities for partnership in infrastructure projects. The Guinean minister stressed the need for the company to participate in future tenders for projects that will be put out.

Mr. Ousmane Gaoual Diallo – Minister of Transport received the company’s delegation, they discussed opportunities for cooperation in the transport sector in light of the Egyptian experience in recent years, and the company’s participation in many diverse transport projects.

The company’s delegation also held a meeting with Mr. Laye Sekou Camara – the Guinean Minister of Energy, and discussed the possibilities of cooperation with the company.

The company’s delegation also discussed with the officials of the Ministry of Energy the previous offer submitted by the Arab Contractors-Elsewedy Electric JV, regarding their readiness to implement Katoomba Dam. The negotiations resulted in the Guinean side agreeing to sign a memorandum of understanding regarding the project.

Eng. Ahmed El Assar expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Mohamed El Halawany, as well as Mr. Namory Camara – the Director General of the Guinea Development Board (GDB), and his team for the tremendous effort made to coordinate and arrange the visit’s activities.

During the closing meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister of Guinea, Eng. Ahmed El Assar, Mr. Laye Sekou Camara – Guinean Minister of Energy, and Mr. Facinet Sylla – Guinean Minister of Infrastructure, signed protocols for cooperation with the Arab Contractors Company in the fields of infrastructure and energy projects.

Eng. Ahmed El Assar also signed a memorandum of understanding between the Guinean Ministry of Energy and the Arab Contractors-Elsewedy Electric JV to implement Katoomba Dam, which represents a continuation of the successes of the Egyptian JV led by Arab Contractors in water dam projects in Africa.

At the conclusion of the visit, Guinean officials praised the extensive experience of Arab Contractors in implementing major projects within and outside Africa, stressing the importance of utilizing this experience in implementing priority projects in Guinea. The company affirmed its readiness to harness its technical and engineering capabilities to support development plans in Guinea and enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
