Following the summit’s conclusion in the Philippines, Kao noted that regional leaders have called for the swift ratification of the ASEAN Petroleum Security Agreement and the full operationalization of the ASEAN Power Grid to facilitate cross-border electricity trade.
These measures are designed to ensure a stable, affordable, and reliable energy supply while accelerating the bloc’s transition toward renewable energy sources across its 11 member states.
In addressing food security, the summit urged for open, predictable markets and strengthened supply chain connectivity to safeguard regional food reserves.
Amid the ongoing Middle East crisis, ASEAN leaders issued a dedicated statement outlining a comprehensive framework to bolster regional resilience in finance, energy, and supply chains.
