Paramount and India’s Kalyani Group Launch Simha 4×4 Armoured Vehicle at Eurosatory 2026

In a monumental alliance that signals a profound realignment within the global defence supply chain, Paramount Group, Africa’s largest private defence and aerospace company, has joined forces with India’s Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited to unveil the Simha 4×4 Light Armoured Multi-Purpose Vehicle.
Launched at the prestigious Eurosatory 2026 defence exhibition in France, this cross-continental collaboration highlights the expanding influence of African and Asian manufacturers in a sector historically dominated by traditional Western industrial superpowers.
The vehicle, named after the Sanskrit word for lion, represents a specially adapted variant of Paramount’s highly successful Mbombe 4 platform.
It was engineered in partnership with Paramount Greece and Ukraine’s MAC HUB to meet rigorous operational standards.
Built with NATO-qualified aggregates and featuring a distinctly Europeanized design, the Simha 4×4 is meticulously engineered for rapid localization and industrialization within partner nations worldwide, offering an agile, combat-ready platform optimized for emerging markets across Africa, South Asia, and beyond.
The Simha 4×4 was developed to provide armed forces with unparalleled versatility, making it uniquely suited for urban warfare, internal security, special operations, troop transport, and on and off-road reconnaissance across treacherous terrain.
This multi-mission capability relies on an advanced modular architecture that allows military units to effortlessly reconfigure the platform into command-and-control or direct-fire support roles.
This design philosophy directly addresses the needs of modern defence forces seeking to streamline and optimize their Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul pipelines, enabling rapid field upgrades to counter asymmetric threats like landmines and Improvised Explosive Devices without encumbering critical logistical supply lines.
This tactical partnership builds upon a highly successful industrial foundation established in February 2021, when Bharat Forge—the parent entity of Kalyani Strategic Systems and the flagship arm of the $2.5 billion Kalyani Group led by billionaire industrialist Baba Kalyani—secured an initial contract from India’s Ministry of Defence to domestically manufacture the Mbombe 4 as the Kalyani M4 in Pune.
These vehicles entered active service with the Indian Army in April 2022 and have since proven their operational durability during grueling United Nations peacekeeping missions.
Beyond India, the Mbombe family of mine-protected combat platforms has garnered a formidable international footprint, securing orders from a diverse roster of nations, including the United Arab Emirates, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Togo.
In Europe, the platform continues to capture significant market share as Czech defence titan STV Group currently markets and licenses the platform as the M4 Golem, while Paramount’s European arm recently secured a historic breakthrough in Ukraine.
where the Ministry of Defence officially codified and approved the MAC OWL, a Ukrainian-configured variant of the Mbombe 4, for immediate military deployment in high-threat environments.
As global defence expenditures pivot toward tactical mobility, counter-insurgency capabilities, and cost-effective force protection, the Simha 4×4 establishes a new benchmark for defense procurement.
By unifying South African entrepreneurial innovation, spearheaded by Ivor Ichikowitz, with India’s surging heavy industrial capacity, this partnership delivers an adaptable, battle-proven asset that allows emerging economies to bypass traditional development constraints and secure true operational sovereignty.
