Egypt Condemns the Israeli Knesset’s Ratification of a Law to Execute Palestinian Detainees

Egypt condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the Israeli Knesset’s ratification of a law to execute Palestinian detainees, describing it as a dangerous and unprecedented escalation.
This step represents a flagrant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, as well as a serious undermining of the fundamental guarantees of a just trial.
Egypt emphasizes that this invalid legislation enshrines a systematic discriminatory approach and reinforces an apartheid system by differentiating in its application between Palestinians and others.
Such a distinction violates the most basic principles of justice and equality before the law.
It also constitutes a blatant breach of the existing legal status in the occupied Palestinian territories, under which Israeli legislation does not apply to Palestinian citizens in the West Bank.
Egypt has repeatedly warned against ignoring serious Israeli violations in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip amidst the current military escalation in the region.
Egypt reiterates the seriousness of this measure and its repercussions on the stability of the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the prospects for containing the escalation.
Egypt reaffirms its categorical rejection of all unilateral Israeli policies and measures.
Egypt further calls upon the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities.
Egypt urges the international community to take firm and immediate action to halt these blatant violations, ensure the protection of the Palestinian people, and safeguard their legitimate rights in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
