High-Speed Legacy: Sawiris-Led Consortium Acquires Stakes in Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Group

In a move that signals a profound transformation in the global luxury automotive sector, a consortium led by the Egyptian-founded firm HOF Capital has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a significant stake in Bugatti Rimac.

The deal, which officially marks the exit of Porsche AG from the joint venture, positions the investment firm—co-founded by Onsi Sawiris, Hisham Elhaddad, and Fady Yacoub—at the helm of one of the world’s most prestigious and technologically advanced automakers.

The transaction involves Porsche divesting its entire 45% stake in Bugatti Rimac, as well as its 20.6% holding in the Rimac Group.

Under this new structure, BlueFive Capital, an Abu Dhabi-based private equity firm, will join as the largest individual investor, while HOF Capital will emerge as the largest institutional shareholder in the Rimac Group alongside founder and CEO Mate Rimac. This strategic shift allows Porsche to refocus on its core business while providing Bugatti Rimac with a fresh infusion of capital and a global network of partners to drive its next phase of expansion into electric hypercars and high-performance technology.

The agreements, finalized on April 24, 2026, follow years of collaboration that saw Rimac Technology evolve into a premier Tier-1 automotive supplier.

As the luxury market increasingly pivots toward digital platforms and sustainable propulsion, the involvement of HOF Capital—a firm traditionally known for its focus on fintech and enterprise software—underscores the convergence of high finance and cutting-edge automotive engineering.

While the transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals, it is expected to reach full completion by the end of 2026, solidifying the presence of Egyptian and regional capital in the highest echelons of the global automotive industry.
