Alamein Africa Forum: Egypt Brings African Business, Investment and Finance Together
Badr Abdelatty, Afreximbank President Discuss Preparations for Alamein Africa Forum

Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, received Mr. George Elombi, President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, September 17, The meeting focused on the ongoing preparations for Egypt’s hosting of the Alamein Africa Forum, scheduled to take place on October 2 and 3 in El Alamein, as well as arrangements for the Summit of the Founding States of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) on October 3 and the eighth African Union Mid-Year Coordination Meeting on October 4.
The two sides also discussed coordination on the organizational and thematic aspects related to these events.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized that the Alamein Africa Forum is part of a package of high-level African events that Egypt will host in early October. He noted that Egypt is hosting the Alamein Africa Forum pursuant to a decision issued by the African Summit in February 2026 to convene the forum every two years in the city of El Alamein.
He also noted that the events will witness broad presidential participation, in addition to the participation of business leaders and representatives of business communities and the public and private sectors, This reflects Egypt’s integrated vision to link the political, economic, and institutional tracks of African action.
Minister Abdelatty pointed out that the forum aims to move from defining continental priorities to mobilizing resources, building partnerships, and translating these priorities into tangible projects and outcomes, He further noted that the forum represents an inclusive African platform for the private sector, investment and financial institutions, and various productive and service sectors. This will facilitate the establishment of direct links between companies and markets, the exploration of cooperation opportunities, the establishment of cross-border partnerships, the development of value chains, the mobilization of investments, and the linking of African capital to priority projects.
For his part, Mr. George Elombi underscored the importance of the Alamein Africa Business Forum as an inclusive African platform that contributes to promoting intra-African trade and investment , He also noted that the forum connects the business community and financial institutions with priority opportunities and projects across the continent, providing a vital opportunity to mobilize resources, form partnerships, and support project implementation that drives economic integration and sustainable development in Africa.
Following the meeting, the two sides held a joint press conference, during which they reviewed the organizational and thematic arrangements for the three presidential summits, particularly the forum, as well as its program and the key events and sessions scheduled to be held , They also answered questions from journalists and media representatives regarding the forum’s goals, expected participation, intended outcomes, and mechanisms to follow up on deliverables leading up to the next edition in 2028.
