El-Sisi, UAE’s Mohamed bin Zayed to hold Cairo talks amid US-Iran peace deal

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi will hold talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Cairo on Monday during the Emirati leader’s fraternal visit to Egypt, with discussions expected to focus on strengthening bilateral ties and reviewing regional and international developments of mutual concern, the Egyptian presidency said.

The meeting comes as Egypt and the UAE continue to expand cooperation across economic, investment, and development sectors while coordinating closely on key regional issues, including conflicts in the Middle East and efforts to promote regional stability.

This also comes amid renewed hopes for regional de-escalation following the announcement of a US-Iran peace agreement that provides for an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations, including in Lebanon, after more than three months of conflict.

The breakthrough aligns with Egypt’s longstanding calls for dialogue, diplomatic solutions, and the avoidance of a broader regional war, issues that are expected to feature prominently in discussions between El-Sisi and Sheikh Mohamed as both countries seek to restore stability in the Middle East.

Monday’s meeting follows a series of high-level contacts between President El-Sisi and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed over the past year, underscoring the strategic partnership between Cairo and Abu Dhabi.

The most recent face-to-face meeting took place on 8 May, when El-Sisi paid a brief visit to Abu Dhabi amid heightened regional tensions following Iranian attacks on the UAE.

During the talks, El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with the UAE, describing the attacks as a violation of international law and stressing that “what affects the UAE affects Egypt.

” The two leaders also discussed expanding trade and investment cooperation and coordinating positions on regional crises.

Later in May, El-Sisi and Sheikh Mohamed participated in a joint call with US President Donald Trump and several Arab leaders to discuss efforts to secure an agreement between Washington and Tehran and prevent further regional escalation.

The leaders voiced support for diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring stability in the Middle East.
