Food Export Council: 15 Markets Account for 60% of Egypt’s Processed Food Exports, Worth USD 2.28 Billion
Food Export Council Egypt stated that the 15 largest import markets for Egyptian processed food products accounted for approximately 60% of the sector’s total exports during the first half of 2026, with a combined value of USD 2.28 billion out of total exports of nearly USD 3.77 billion between January and June.
The Council noted that the diversity of the leading markets—spanning Arab countries, the European Union, the United States, and China—reflects the expanding geographical reach of Egypt’s processed food exports and the ability of Egyptian companies to strengthen their presence in traditional markets while expanding into markets with high demand growth.
Saudi Arabia topped the list of the largest destinations for Egyptian processed food exports, with shipments valued at USD 308 million, representing approximately 8% of the sector’s total exports during the first half of the year.
The United States ranked second, with exports valued at USD 255 million and a share of around 7% of Egypt’s total processed food exports, reflecting the continued expansion of Egyptian products in the US market.
Jordan and the Netherlands ranked third and fourth, with exports of USD 166 million to each market, representing approximately 4% each, Sudan and Libya followed, with exports valued at USD 159 million to each country.
Egypt’s processed food exports to Spain reached approximately USD 149 million, while exports to Iraq stood at USD 135 million, followed by Algeria at USD 131 million and China at USD 130 million.
Exports to Palestine amounted to approximately USD 121 million, while Italy recorded USD 115 million, the United Arab Emirates USD 106 million, Germany USD 90 million, and the United Kingdom USD 86 million.
