The European Commission Approves Disbursement of the Second Installment of the Egyptian Budget Support Package Second Tranche

As part of the continuous follow-up by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates regarding the implementation of the EU budget support program for Egypt, the European Commission approved today, Friday, July 24, the disbursement of the second installment of the second tranche of the European Union’s budget support program for Egypt, the European Commission approved today, Friday, 24 July, the disbursement of the second installment of the second tranche of the package, valued at €1.5 billion.
This disbursement completes the implementation of the EU’s €5 billion Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) package allocated to Egypt. The first installment of the second tranche, worth €1 billion, was disbursed in January 2026, following the first tranche of €1 billion, which was disbursed in 2024.
The European Commission’s decision comes within the framework of the Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership between Egypt and the European Union, established in March 2024. It reflects the depth of the partnership and the significant progress achieved across various areas of cooperation. It also underscores the importance of this partnership in supporting Egypt’s efforts to achieve economic stability and advance sustainable development.
The decision also highlights the European Union’s confidence in Egypt’s efforts to strengthen regional security and stability, as well as its recognition of Egypt’s pivotal role as a cornerstone of stability in the Middle East, the Southern Mediterranean, and the African continent.
It is worth noting that recent months have witnessed intensive Egyptian engagement with various European Union institutions at all levels to secure the necessary support for implementing the political, economic, and security pillars of the Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership, in a manner that serves the shared interests of both Egypt and the European Union and enhances cooperation in priority areas.
