Industrialist Abdulsamad Rabiu Nears Historic $20 Billion Valuation Amid BUA Foods Surge

Nigerian industrialist and BUA Group Chairman, Abdulsamad Rabiu, is on the verge of entering an exclusive global wealth bracket as his net worth climbed to $19.7 billion, according to the latest data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Supported by an explosive multi-billion-dollar surge in his equity portfolio since the beginning of 2026, Rabiu now stands just $300 million away from the historic $20 billion threshold—a financial milestone previously achieved by only one other African individual, fellow Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote.
The latest valuation represents a single-day gain of $606 million, pushing Rabiu’s year-to-date financial expansion to an unprecedented $9.53 billion.

This aggressive wealth trajectory represents the most dominant performance among all African billionaires this year.

The meteoric rise is primarily anchored by the stellar financial performance of his publicly traded consumer goods division, BUA Foods, which has consistently posted exponential increases in net profit margins, operational revenues, and shareholder dividend payouts.

This industrial rally has fundamentally reshuffled the continent’s wealth hierarchy; earlier this month, Rabiu officially surpassed South African luxury goods magnate Johann Rupert to secure his position as Africa’s second-richest individual, further cementing Nigeria’s macroeconomic dominance over Africa’s private capital landscape.
A granular look at Rabiu’s wealth accumulation reveals a series of high-velocity leaps over the first half of the year.

In March alone, his net worth surged by $4.47 billion, climbing from $10.7 billion to $14.6 billion in a matter of weeks and catapulting him to the 197th spot on the global rich list. Meanwhile, Aliko Dangote continues to lead continental rankings with a consolidated net worth of $36.7 billion.

The widening multi-billion-dollar footprint of both Dangote and Rabiu underscores a broader structural shift within the African business ecosystem, where heavily integrated domestic manufacturing, infrastructure development, and agro-refining conglomerates are outperforming traditional resource-extraction and luxury retail sectors.
